The Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) on 19th June 2026 marked a significant milestone in its history by successfully hosting its 10th Graduation Ceremony on the Institute’s grounds in Nairobi.
The ceremony brought together graduands, education leaders, policymakers, development partners, and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of graduates who completed the Diploma in Education Leadership and Management Programme. As KEMI’s flagship programme, the Diploma equips education practitioners with the leadership, governance, and management competencies necessary to enhance the performance of learning institutions and advance quality education in Kenya.
The graduation ceremony underscored KEMI’s continued commitment to building the capacity of education leaders and managers through innovative training and professional development programmes. Over the years, the Institute has played a pivotal role in strengthening educational leadership across the country, empowering school leaders to effectively navigate emerging challenges and drive institutional excellence.
The event was graced by distinguished guests led by the Chief Guest, Dr. Elyas Abdi Jillow, OGW. Also in attendance were the Chairperson of the KEMI Council, the Chief Executive Officer of KEMI, the Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) representatives from various Directorates of the Ministry of Education, representatives from State Agencies of the Ministry of Education , key development partners in the education sector like the African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL) and VVOB – education for development.
In his keynote address, Dr. Jillow congratulated the graduands on their accomplishment and challenged them to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired through the programme to strengthen leadership and improve educational outcomes within their respective institutions.”Today we celebrate not only academic achievement but also the dedication of education leaders who have committed themselves to transforming learning institutions across our country. The knowledge and skills you have acquired at KEMI will play a critical role in strengthening educational leadership, improving service delivery, and shaping the future of education in Kenya,” said Dr. Jillow.
As they received their Diplomas, the graduands joined a growing network of education professionals dedicated to promoting excellence, integrity, accountability, and effective leadership in schools and other learning institutions nationwide.
