COURSE OVERVIEW

This course provides participants with multiple skills that are needed to enhance their ability to manage and provide strategic guidance in the utilization of school funds. It has also taken into consideration both traditional and emerging issues in the financial management of learning institutions, taking into consideration the reporting format using the IPSAS accrual basis.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply legal and policy frameworks governing financial management in schools
  2. Prepare adequate school plans and budgets for efficient and effective mobilization and utilization of resources
  3. Comply with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, and its regulations of 2020, in the acquisition of school supplies and the disposal of assets
  4. Prepare school financial reports in accordance with IPSAS standards
  5. Appreciate the role of auditing in schools
  6. Appreciate risk management in schools.
