ESD Committee and other Working Teams

Education for Sustainable Development Unit is under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Management development department Mr. Maurice Odondo. However since the ESD activities call for the involvement of all stakeholders of KEMI, the ESD committee consists of stass from both the Management Development and Cooperate Services departments.  This unit is spearheaded by a committee that is all inclusive which was appointed in 2015 by the then Director; Dr. Wanjiru Kariuki. The current Director Mrs. Grace Ngaca has improved the committee further by appointing various working teams to spearhead specific ESD activities.

The Unit is one of its own kind because it comprises of staff with diverse abilities as well as special needs from various units in the institution, namely:

  7. Salome Gitau Nyakio- Accountant from the Cooperate Services Department

This is the uniting home for all staff members and other stakeholders of KEMI. This is where everyone feels recognized and their expertise appreciated and employed. All members of staff are encouraged to contribute positively towards creating a conducive working environment for everyone.

Apart from this committee there are other ESD working teams who have been appointed with time to spearhead certain activities under ESD. Such teams include:

The team in charge of advancing the ESD policy which comprises of three members namely:

  3. Mrs. Margaret Maina- Head of the examinations unit

The team in charge of partnerships which comprises of three members, namely:

  1. Mrs. Christine Owinyi- Head of ESD unit
  2. Dr. Winnie Bulimo- National Management Lecturer- Research and Consultancy Division
  3. Mr. Symon Ngatia- National Management Lecturer- Field services division

The team in charge of advancing the ESD policy is mainly focused to spearhead the establishment of 47 ESD model centres in Kenya while the team in charge of partnerships is mainly focused on sourcing for working partners in ESD.
